Recording of wildlife is an important activity to support the continuing monitoring and conservation of biodiversity. The growing use of technology will help the recording effort. This new app helps combine a notepad, GPS locating device and camera to generate sighting records. It creates a log in a convenient format for sending by email to your wildlife recorders or your own email address.

For the UK this app generates an Ordnance Survey grid reference, e.g. TQ 1130 9870, along with the species name you enter, the quantity seen and notes. The grid reference, date and time stamps are generated automatically. Once logged you can view the location in maps. For the rest of the world use this as a taster app for the Pro version.

The app can be used to record Butterflies, Birds, Bees, Bats or any other species you see. Taking a photograph and emailing it to an expert with the recorded location and date is invaluable in helping identify the species.

This app is free so please recommend to your friends and other recorders.

Happy recording.
